scared of birth in leeds?

One of the biggest ways hypnobirthing improves birth outcomes is by reducing fear around birth and therefore avoiding entering into the ‘fear-tension-pain’ cycle. But what is this and why do we want to avoid it?

I love my job as a hypnobirthing teacher.

Firstly, let me introduce myself. I’m Rhi, a mother of 2 and founder of Birth BeYOUtifully With Rhi. I am a fully accredited, award-winning hypnobirthing teacher, who is passionate about improving women’s births through my courses. I offer courses in Leeds and online across the UK.

Most of us are initially fearful of birth. Childbirth is often used as the benchmark of pain. It is almost always shown to be a medical emergency on TV. Add to this that the female body is forever found fault with. It’s too fat, too thin, too hairy, too sweaty etc. It becomes pretty difficult to approach childbirth with confidence.

Fear and childbirth aren't a great combination. Fear means tension. Think about watching a horror film. You tense up, don’t you? Tense muscles experience more pain when working. The more pain you experience, the more likely you are to be fearful - pain usually indicates something is wrong and your body is programmed to protect you from any threats. So the initial fear you held has created tension in your muscles, which has created pain and therefore more fear.

It is cyclical. The more fear you have, the more tension and pain you will experience and so on.

So how do we reduce fear around childbirth? Watch my free masterclass ‘reducing fear in birth' and I’ll share lots of great tips for doing this.

Yours,

Rhi x
